    Facebook Will Buy Face Recognition Technology

    Facebook is planning to buy face recognition technology and its price is between $80 and $100 mln.

    Facebook social network is planning a new purchase. This is face recognition technology by Face.com company. According to Newsgeek, transaction amount is between $80 and $100 mln. It was also reported by many sources that during quite a long period of time the negotiations between Facebook and Face.com concerning this purchase have been conducting, even before Facebook IPO. Still, the negotiations have been impeded because both companies could not agree towards the acceptable for both price.

    Face.com company that exists since the year of 2007 possesses quite exact technology of face recognition on digital photos. It can be very interesting for Facebook as for standard version and for mobile version as well. Since recently Facebook social network possesses Photo Tagger Israeli technology that allows to seek out friends’ faces on pictures and that is quite popular in Facebook social network.

    Among Face.com company investors it is worth mentioning also Yandex that has been also integrated with this technology into Yandex.Photos and that has already been in test mode since October, 2011. On the whole, the amount of all received investments by Face.com company is approximately more than 5 mln.
