Recently Google Penguin has appeared on the front page of The Wall Street Journal in Small business section. In article «As Google Tweaks Searches, Some Get Lost in the Web.» the readers are told about owners of small online business who have suffered destructive losses since the latest Google search update known as Penguin. The traffic of one businessman has decreased approximately on 30 % for a night. And at one more poor creature 20 % of the traffic were gone. Confessedly the owner of Oh My Dog Supplies, the sales has lowered from $68,000 in last month to $25,000 this month. He blames the waste in traffic on Google search and thought it to be the result of two actions. Once he paid for a multitude of deep links and later put up marketing articles to EzineArticles and Squidoo.
According to the Penguin, similar advertising stunts are considered spam. And, the search site considers them as affected raising the relevance of a website. Since they aren't useful to users, the Internet giant incurs the penalty for being deceptive. After all, all these updates have been made for cleanning out the spammers and the snake oil salesmen. And what entrepreneurs must do is to steer the pathway that will make the most value for their business and to lose sight of the rest.
