Facebook, the Social Network Site Is Adding the Hate Button
It was TechCrunch that brought in the news in the year 2010 that Facebook is coming up with the ‘Like’ button on its site. Facebook, the social networking site which has about 500 million users was founded by Mark Zuckerberg in the year 2004. It was a huge success and this site was able to attract million of users at the very start of the site and had left behind most competitive social networking sites. Anything on Facebook goes viral within minutes all over the internet world. It is the most popular social networking site as the number of its members keeps rising everyday.
Recently the TechCrunch has also announced that Facebook is coming up with the ‘Hate’ button just as the Like button. Facebook expects that its users will love this option and they expect the same success which they had it when they introduced the ‘Like’ button. At present 2.7 billion Likes get generated everyday along with comments. Facebook is expecting that the ‘Hates’ will generate the double of the Likes as they think most people who uses the internet hates most of the thing online than they like it. Lady Gaga, Manchester United and many such pages on Facebook gets around 20 million likes but with the Hate button, Facebook expects it will be the double. They think that Hates can very easily take over the Likes.
Mark Zuckerberg had made a statement when the Like button was introduced that it will generate 1 billion Likes in 24 hours and now he thinks that the Hate button will generate 2 billion Hates on its first day. Another consideration is being taken up internally as to whether call it the Hate button or the Dislike button. This debate is internal and will soon find its conclusion once the supposed Hate button is launched by the website.
The Like button itself generates or bring in a lot of revenue for Facebook, with the Hate button coming in, Facebook is expected to have a lot more coming for it in terms of revenue. It can also improve its ranking in the Ipo.
Facebook is always open to alterations and change and have kept paced with changing times. It has not hesitated to bring in changes and have gone ahead with it. Recently the Facebook mobile saw changes in its 2-Click Like button to 1-Click Like Bar. TechCrunch was also the first to notice its experimentation with the fax button.
Facebook is also considering other changes and bring in more buttons like ‘Meh’, ‘Who Cares’ and others but fear button explosion. Hate button is just a consideration and it might or might not come but this feature surely fits in the Facebook mission which is to help connect people with each other and let them share things which they want. So be it a Like button or Hate button, Facebook is surely connecting people.
It has been reported that many insiders oppose the idea of Hate button as they think the world is full of hate these days and do not want to add to it. However officially nothing is announced yet on the matter.
