  • A Prototype Similar to Product Listing Ads Being Tested on Bing

Microsoft adCenter is experimenting on Bing with a new prototype that is looking like product listing ads by Google AdWords.

Nowadays Bing search results are among the most accurate and relevant data on the web. And they can become even more useful, if a new feature appears on the Bing results page. Microsoft adCenter is developing an option that looks very much like product listing ads by Google AdWords, reports Search Engine Land.

A new ad format appears on the right of Bing search results page atop the guaranteed placement. It's a small unit with a basic information about a product. It provides a name and an image of the product, its price, and the landing page URL.

The prototype is not named itself yet. It is intended for gathering "initial engagement data on ads with detailed product information", according to Microsoft spokesperson. Some other ad product initiatives are also being developed in adCenter.

Although Microsoft will not like the prototype to be compared with product listing ads its adCenter is sure to scrutinize the powerful options by the rival Google AdWords. In the Q2 product listing ads made 15% of non-branded clicks on Google. Compared with respective text ads their CPC was 23% lower.

Such an option from Bing would make many marketers happy. In the meantime they can master one of the latest features by adCenter: ads rotation to apportion advertising content more effectively.
