New Proposition from Sites: Pay and They Will Remove «Bad» Links
Within the last year Google has sent out a great amount of link penalty notifications for unnatural links indicating one's site. After the Penguin update SEOs and webmasters in the whole world became obsessed with removing links, that Penguin considers to be suspicious. It became known that sites try to benefit by the current situation.
Recently the editor of SearchEngineLand news portal Barry Schwarz has published a screenshot of special landing page of a site on with described prices for removing links. The site suggests web designers to pay and in exchange the site removes links that point to web site from their site.
Google hasn't commented on this yet.
Well, it doesn't mean that you must accept these paid propositions. The alternatives still work. You can threaten them to sue, or can wait till a special Google disavow link tool appears, or you can just relax and believe Google that it ignores paid links, sometimes. There is one more way – you can use a 404/410 HTTP response code. It's up to you to decide what alternative to choose.
