  • Yahoo and Facebook Entered a Final Settlement Of Patent Lawsuits

Yahoo and Facebook have agreed to final settlement of patents infringement lawsuits, significantly enlarging their ongoing partnership.

Yahoo and Facebook have extracted everything from the time extension granted by the US District Court in San Francisco, and entered into a final settlement of patent lawsuits. Two giants, like most experts thought, preferred not to bog down into a long legal battle, especially after its mastermind Scott Thompson had left Yahoo.

Yahoo will not receive any financial compensation from Facebook for patents infringement under its lawsuit, according to All Things Digital. Social network may pay later to license some other patents from Yahoo, those that were not listed in the claim.

At the same time the boards of both companies have agreed to significant enlargement of their ongoing partnership in the areas of joint online advertising sales, cross-licensing of major patents and some other business deals.

The so-called "Patent War" began on March 12, 2012 with Yahoo filing a lawsuit against Facebook. Social network was accused of 10 patents infringement with some relating to online advertising technology. Facebook, accustomed to both sue and be sued, filed a countersuit, alleging that Yahoo was trying to limit the innovations implementation.
