Yahoo and Facebook get two more weeks for patent lawsuit settlement negotiations.
San Francisco federal judge Jeffrey White (Jeffrey White) allowed time extension for 14 days in the case of Yahoo Inc. v. Facebook Inc.
The judge agreed with Yahoo attorneys' arguments that both parties needed additional time for settlement negotiations. Facebook representatives did not object, and the request for delay was approved on June 20.
Yahoo initiated the case against Facebook earlier in 2012 claiming patents infringement. Among 10 Yahoo patents allegedly infringed by the social networking service some were related to online advertising technology. Facebook was fast to file a countersuit.
The lawsuit was filed by Yahoo while the corporation was headed by Scott Thompson. As he later left Yahoo, both Internet corporations entered settlement negotiations.
