  • eBay Hires Google Russia's Ex CEO to Head Its Russian Unit

Former Google Russia CEO Vladimir Dolgov will lead the Russian Unit of eBay.

eBay is opening an unit in Russia. The local company eBay Marketplaces will be headed by Russian top manager Vladimir Dolgov. Before joining online auction he had been in charge of Google Russia for six years. He also had been working at Russian online shopping store Ozon for five years previously.

“eBay Marketplaces” is a purely technical company name, in fact it will be a another eBay unit in Russia. The post of Google Russia chief is vacant so far. It's understood that there would be a top-manager “to sign documents" and manage routine operations, but even interim CEO has not been appointed yet.

eBay faced obstacles entering the market in Russia as for a long time local customers had only been allowed to pay for purchases using PayPal while at the same time being prohibited to be paid via this payment system. Last year PayPal permitted to send money to bank accounts but in American banks solely.

Google ex CEOs are in high demand. As it was reported earlier former ad executive of Internet giant Michael Barrett was hired by Yahoo.
